Ride the coast the way it was always meant to be seen.
Beach gallops, sunset rides and jungle trails on a real working rescue farm — small groups, gentle horses, and guides who've known this coastline their whole lives.
Fourteen ways to see this coast on horseback.
From a two-hour beach gallop to a multi-day ride south along the coast — every tour starts with about 20 minutes to get comfortable, fitted with saddles, and given a basic riding briefing, no experience required.

Bringing a crowd, or staying longer?
Two things riders ask about most — group logistics and on-site lodging. Here's how we handle both.
Bringing a big group?
Every ride already scales its pricing for groups of 5 or more, and for larger parties we bring in extra guides so nobody's waiting around. Let us know how many riders and when you're thinking, and we'll help plan the logistics — including splitting into smaller groups by experience level if that works better for your crew.
Stay at the ranch.
We have a range of lodging available right on the farm, so you can wake up with the horses and ride again the next morning. Great for multi-day adventures or if you just don't want the trip to end. Get in touch and we'll walk you through what's available for your dates.
Before you ride
- Pants, closed shoes, and a hat — we may ride in full sun
- Sunscreen and bug repellent
- Helmets are available on request
- Riders must be under 110 kg / 240 lb, for the horses' safety
Snorkeling gear and beach towels are available to rent.
Free car pickup for Playa Junquillal hotels can be arranged — just let us know when you book.
We're animal lovers first. Sharing that with you is the tour.
We're animal lovers and natural world enthusiasts — riding is a passion, but simply being with all the animals that share our lives is what makes it worth it. Our horses live out in the pastures and graze freely in Playa Junquillal and at the ranch in Las Delicias, except during the driest months, when we feed them hay and grains. They all go barefoot.
Training is one of the most important parts of our work. We use respectful, natural horsemanship, starting with each horse from the moment they're born — or taken into our care — taking the time to learn their character, likes and dislikes. If you share these values and have some experience, we'd love to have you volunteer with us.
A small restoration project — our Beach Club — is underway, offering a new volunteering opportunity. If you're creative and can help create something new with what is already there, check out our volunteer program.
Meet a few of the herd.
Every horse here is raised and trained on the farm using natural horsemanship — never bought in from a dealer, never rotated through like rental equipment. Here are a few faces you might meet on your ride.

Cats, chickens, cows, dogs — and three ways to give back.
Here's how our community and our guests help this place keep going.
Volunteer with us
We're happy to announce that we can house volunteers again — help with the animals, trail and pasture upkeep, training, riding, and joining us on tours. We're looking forward to the people this brings our way.

There are so many reasons a horse might need a new home — we take them in, no questions asked. Thanks to our community, we have fields where they can regain strength at their own pace, and slowly join our herd.
Sponsor a horse →Free rides for local kids
Every few months we gather in one of our fields in Playa Junquillal to give the children of our community a chance to meet these animals and share in Guanacaste's riding culture. Follow our Facebook page for the next date.

Booked a sunset ride for a girlfriend's 30th birthday as complete beginners and were put at ease right away. Elsa and Greivin pointed out howler monkeys along the way and sent photos and video afterward — the highlight of their trip.
Elsa's horses accommodated every experience level in their group, and they got to watch sea turtles hatching along the way. Called it the highlight of their whole trip and plan to ride again on their next visit.
On a family trip, loved their two-hour beach ride so much that they came back a second time. Their six-year-old, despite no experience, was carefully looked after and even rode solo for a stretch.
Praised the excellent communication and professionalism from booking through to the ride itself, noting the horses were clearly in excellent health and well cared for throughout their two-hour outing.
A group of ten riders, several on a horse for the first time, called it one of the best trail rides they'd ever taken — with beautiful sunset views and easy, well-trained horses for everyone.
Called it the best guided horseback ride they'd ever taken anywhere, riding to a hilltop overlooking Playa Blanca with horses spirited enough for a good beach gallop, but always well cared for.
